You can volunteer for us in the following ways...

If you are friendly, approachable and like to help others then join our Buddy Scheme! We need buddies to help our customers with their shopping, and to give new or nervous drivers support and encouragement while out and about in Chesterfield.  

If you are friendly, approachable and confident talking to new people join our Meet and Greet team.  As a meeters and Greeter you will be the first person new and existing customers see.  You will help to put shoppers at ease and help meet their shopmobility needs.  You will also raise awareness with customers about services offered by Shopmobility.

Could you be a volunteer?

You don't need formail qualifications or previous experience but if you have a disability, impairment, experience of disability or are a carer it may help your application. You must be over 18 years old.

Will it affect my benefits?

If your currently recieving welfare benefits, it is unlikely that volunteering with us will affect these but we can advise if you have any questions.

What commitment would I need to give?

Volunteers typically work one full day or two half days a week from 10am - 4.30pm.

Responsible to:                 The Volunteer Manager of the above organisation

Responsible for:                Reception/ Volunteer Receptionists

Duties                               Dealing with client and telephone enquiries for scooters and wheelchairs.

Dealing with booking in and out of mobility equipment and fees on a daily basis

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

All duties and responsibilities to be carried out in accordance with all policies and procedures by Chesterfield & District Shopmobility Ltd

1.  To be the first point of contact for members and visitors to Chesterfield & District Shop mobility
2. To provide a reception service for Chesterfield & District Shopmobility dealing with telephone and personal enquiries.
3. Collection of daily fees
4. Booking in and out of all mobility equipment
5. Keeping appropriate records of all equipment booked on a daily basis
6. To undertake general clerical duties, which includes monthly figures
7. To check First aid boxes and Fire extinguishers are clean and sealed.
8. Any other duties that may be required in agreement with the Manager and Volunteer Manager of the above organisation.
